The John Byrne Award is the place for people with something to say.

The John Byrne Award accepts creative work in any medium, 365 days a year, from anyone living or studying in Scotland over 16 years of age. All work is displayed in The John Byrne Award online gallery and prizes are awarded every quarter. Entry is free of charge.

The John Byrne Award’s core purpose is to celebrate, encourage and support creativity and to promote the discussion of ideas through the medium of the arts. John Byrne Award entries are therefore judged not only on their artistic excellence, but also on how well they can potentially provoke meaningful thought or discussion.

Eligible submissions are entered into the relevant monthly judging process with all winners and runners up announced quarterly; the winner of each monthly prize will automatically be entered into the annual award shortlist for judging in April each year.
