We’d like to thank The John Byrne Award community and our courageous entrants who so generously share their work and inspire us all. Your support means so much to us. Covid-19 continues to impact all of our lives, and Scotland’s cultural and creative industries have been hit hard by the pandemic.
Here at The John Byrne Award, we understand the valuable role that creativity and the visual arts play within communities across Scotland. 2020 saw a dramatic 80% rise in participation and audience engagement with The John Byrne Award, coinciding with Scotland’s most stringent lockdown restrictions. Many of the most compelling entries we have received have been reacting in time to the pandemic. This surge of interest in Scotland’s leading creative competition has renewed our ambition and commitment to safeguard the role of the visual arts and culture in Scotland more widely.
We need your help!
The Iris Initiative (the Scottish SCIO (SC 043568) that administers the John Byrne Award) receives financial support from a range of sources. We rely principally on income raised through fundraising dinners, awards ceremonies, exhibitions and special events. Covid-19 has impacted our ability to events fundraise, and so we are asking for public donations to support our cash prize. Every penny raised will offer direct benefit to Scotland’s talented creative individuals.
