What value does a human being have today? Not to their family or community, but to themselves. What metric could we use to measure this today? We have been unshackled from so many of our values/virtues, traditions and methods of meaning that we relied upon for centuries. Where does that leave us today? Are we anything more than economic crop or cattle? What does our art reflect about us? This poem explores the realities faced by us humans today in not living close that what we would call our ideal lives. Sacrifices have always been a part of human existence and maybe in the past the sacrifices we made were more apparent -what sacrifices are we making today? What is our value?
