If there is a sin in this world, then it is waste. I make rugs from forlorn, discarded clothing and using the traditional technique of ragrugging produce some vibrant rugs. Sometimes I use the original colours, sometimes I dye the fabric, and as the pieces are only small strips, nothing gets wasted. My parents and grandparents didn’t throw away much, and I’d like to do the same. There is a great satisfaction in stripping down a mucky old wool jacket, washing the bits, and preparing them for rugging, and the results are beautiful!
