Why is it so difficult to remember where we have been, and the skies we have seen?

Skies are what put the fire in my belly. I actively seek these out in England, Scotland (where I am now based), Wales and beyond. Armed with a film camera and my wonderful map-loving man I walk through these landscapes, often for days on end. I use both my photographs and my memories to re-create the atmosphere, landscapes and skies. As I grew up in Northumberland, I think it’s probably natural for me to be particularly inspired by rugged, rural, atmospheric and sometimes post-industrial landscapes. There is something about the bleakness of a barren landscape which I can’t put my finger on, but that always, always leaves me spellbound.
