Why do women get pressured into thinking they are ticking clocks?
“When are you having kids?”
“When are you getting married?”
“You’re not getting any younger.”
All these things young adult women will have heard at some point in their life.
Yes there is the fact that as you get a bit older there is more likeliness of biological difficulties in pregnancy, but what if you don’t want kids? What if you don’t want to get married? What if you’re just not quite ready to settle down yet? But all around you, you are being questioned on why and told the longer you wait the harder it will be.
Whats wrong with taking your time in life and waiting until you’re ready? Why not focus on your career first and kids later?
The questions come from all places, friends, family. Even in this modern era that we are living in this still seems to be an issue where woman are being pressured into thinking they need to fit into a certain “woman mould”.
I wanted to create a simple piece that reflected this question and show how women are made to feel like they are a ticking clock.
