At a time when blanket policy is being applied across the diverse communities of the United Kingdom, this film asks the question “Why are YOU any different?”. REKT is a dance film that explores the psychological effects of applying one-size-fits-all policies, and the resulting impact on our society. Responding to this question through movement, the journey through the car wash demonstrates a cycle of negativity and the resultant self-harm in accepting things the way that they are, surrounded by those indifferent to the surreal plight of our protagonist. The status quo. Working with a local Glasgow Car Wash, the process of creating and shooting this work brought together artists and local community figures, in exploring topics around mental health.
