The notion of Immersion is critical to my practice. I often work on-site, finding comfort and meaning in the midst of the shifting, ever-changing Scottish landscape. Continually capturing the horizon is significant. Hope can always be found in the silver linings of the clouds, in the grounding composition of the sea meeting sky. Personal experience draws into this; looking out to sea across the horizon, feeling grounded in the present, whilst acknowledging the past and its impact on the future reminds of an ongoing connection that will prevail. Specifically in times like these I hope my paintings can bring comfort, perhaps even salvation, showing that no matter how dark times may be, there will be light.
