My book “Notions of Freedom, Portraits and Stories” is a book I have been working on for many years.
It is a collection of portrait drawings and paintings with interviews, essays, and stories about the refugee experience in Scotland. I was an integration network Artist in Residence for a decade, a residency that is ongoing.
I promised to share these stories and pictures (there are over 1,000 drawings and paintings in the collection.) because it is important that these voices are heard.
My website also carries images of my current residency with Fortuneworks, Drumchapel, a day centre for adults with learning disabilities. and is also a portraiture project. The books and exhibitions will be toured to Reykjavik, Iceland and Orlando, Florida next year, and were exhibited at Conferences in Chicago and Madrid in 2019.
