Why are so many people still disrespectful of the natural world?

Ingebjorg Smith, 60

These days, and as I get older, being outdoors in the wild is the only thing that makes me happy. But I won’t go off paths or tracks as I don’t want to cause further damage. Its really amazing what you will see without trampling everywhere . I don’t leave any litter & take away only memories (& perhaps a few faded bracken leaves to paint from later.) This painting is of Mergansers on the Kyle of Sutherland, seen from the road. They gather in large groups on estuaries in the Autumn. Their colours against the blue of the water is truely stunning. Now I really wish I had trained as an Ecologist! But maybe through my painting I can inspire others to take a greater interest the natural world on which we all depend.
