This piece was inspired partly by a news report on the television a few years back. Images of Princess Diana arriving at a grand ball somewhere in London. The excitement as the masses gazed on her features, her class, her elegance. For me, my eyes were fixed on the stunning necklace of diamonds that sparkled under the camera flashlights. It made me wonder. The millions of years of torment that this planet suffered in its very creation. And yet without this maelstrom of gases and dust heating and condensing; without the ‘star-stuff visitor’s’ from deep space that bombarded the young earth, we would not have been able to experience the wonder and beauty of the diamond.
