I wanted to explore the missing women across the Miner’s Strike, who played a vital role in emotional and practical support. I fear this is in danger of being lost for the current under-skilled and should-be-working class, and with it, a legacy of pride and love in the working classes, for the struggles that people face across the globe. Mick Magahey was a Scottish miners’ leader and lifelong Communist. He described himself as “a product of my class and my movement”, and these people used to be part of our day to day social history. In todays efficient world I like people to take time and recall these ordinary people who’s impact was immeasurable.
