This piece began as a quest to reimagine a ‘white shirt’. Looking back on the history of white shirts as formal attire for men, I thought of how my grandmother and mother would take great care ironing my grandfather and father’s shirts for work. This then unfolded onto themes of dependency and the weight of responsibility. Asking audiences to think about how they themselves may be burdening someone or are carrying excess pressure. Especially young-carers and those who work with vulnerable groups.
