The Purple Blood, 2019

The story explores the journey of an immigrant. It is not about a political decision; it is about how peoples perceived this decision. “Allera” is serving as a portrayal for an Eastern European immigrant. The story is not fictional; it is inspired from my life. It presents the journey of an immigrant from a simple life to one touched by mental health and then to a stage where the character lost everything. Allera’s character has a very common dilemma: who is she, where is her place? Allera presents her experience in a strange country with a strange culture and her struggles. The story highlights the power of words over someone’s psychological state and it also presents the need of hope, love and how important it is that people accept immigrants in their community and what is the cost if they are reluctant to do so.
