What’s the space for sport and fun in a pandemic?

In the same year Scotland qualified for the Euro Cup Final, the country went through the initial national lockdown to keep us safe from COVID-19, before then moving to a level-based system. During the pandemic, the already largely neglected playing fields in my hometown, where I was spending quarantine became more, and more neglected. As the media say that the European Championship qualification is a moment of hope for Scotland, of inspiration for Scotland’s youth to pursue sport – I ask, how realistic is that, if the places to play and practice for free are so brutally neglected?
