What’s it like living with mental illness?

Emma Reynolds, 27

Inspired by the goings on within my head, I used this as my concept. The idea of mental health being confined to the inside. When you explore it, it becomes this chaotic mess that unravels before you. That’s the representation within this work. I have challenged myself to make something that is relatable, not just to me but to others who also struggle with mental health. I want to show how I can use this energy; the episodes and the waves of emotions, to create something, rather than let it drag me down. I want to use it as my driving force to push me forward. I want to use my art to open up a narrative and to help get rid of the stigma.
