What was I thinking?

Stuart Mackay

The entry explores the value of honesty, I realise the value of this because when I start a piece I’m unsure of the direction. This serves a greater purpose as I’ve found that that more personal and nuanced ideas appear on the image. When the purpose of the piece is to convey a certain emotion, I find that it limits the potential doorways that can be explored. I believe it to be more honest to simply let the idea develop at the same pace as piece. Initially this piece was intended as a simple snow study but for whatever reason I drifted toward a more sci-fi aesthetic. I like working in this way because while it may seem haphazard I think it reveals more of my influences by the end.
