What Steers Our Connection To Nature?

Valerie O'Regan

Cyanotype PrintHydrangea Skeleton, 202112cmx12cm

This hydrangea grows in my garden,I am aware of its growth in line with the changing seasons.I am always stopped in my tracks when the green leaves have completely faded and the supple stems have withered, turn brown and wooden. The flowers have metamorphosed into delicate skeletons that easy float upwards when caught by the wind. When I give my time to really look I am taken elsewhere, thoughts then memories, ghosts of the past and beyond. In my print I hope to capture the fragile beauty of the flower skeletons ,their delicacy their translucency and their near non existence.
