What price is paid by soldiers, who suffer from traumatic injuries, both physical and mental, trying to adjust to civilian life?

John Buchanan, 37

Soldiers returning to civilian life face many problems in adjusting from the military environment to a new way of life. Some veterans carry with them physical and or mental injuries which make the transition slightly more challenging. Often they are isolated, be it through lack of ties or the choice to self isolate. There are many misconceptions about veterans and their service. How veterans view their service is not straight forward and can often be the opposite of what someone without any military service may expect. For people and family who have lost friends and family, due to service, every day is remembrance day. I am speaking from personal experience. I have turned my back on my past and it has turned its back on me.
