What Lies Within?

Katherine Humfrey, 19

Inspired by the native brown hare here in Scotland, I have witnessed generations develop from leveret to adult and ultimately their passing. With this piece I wanted to view the relationship between a beings inner working and its outer shell; to expose a body at its very core. Illustrating how these graceful creatures are able to move with such fluidity, grace and speed, showing that there is so much more to them than the shell that we see. The noble, external appearance of a hare is full of athletic potential, supported by the scaffolding of its powerful yet delicate skeleton. With both views displayed in this piece my aim is to express each of these aspects simultaneously.
