Over the lockdown period, I created simple paper collages that focused on colour.
Colour was everywhere in my life during these months – flowers I’d see on my daily walk, drawings of rainbows in the windows of houses, fruit in the supermarket and in the outfits of TV news reporters.
Although I would describe myself as a creative – I’ve never appreciated colour more than I have done over the past year. I studied textiles at University and spent 4 years mixing all sorts of pigments, but only now do I truly feel like I am beginning to understand, treasure and love all colours.
As soon as I could get back into my studio all I wanted to do was mix and print with as many shades as I could – each time I look at this screen print, I find my new favourite colour.
