What defines the home and language of your heart?

Mary-Erin Kinch

I think it is very important to take ownership of your family roots and show pride in the generations before you that helped you be the person you are. To stand up for a cause you believe in and embrace an open and welcoming attitude to culture and language with the people who matter the most to you helps you become a more rounded and empathetic person. Finally, maintaining family links even when distance separates you is one of the hardest but most rewarding things you can do. Our world is changing, becoming more connected and more divided at the same time. Our differences should unite us, our similarities aren’t that hard to find. We just have to open our eyes.
