When my partner noted how little her life had changed due to the imposed lockdown, it got me thinking about how the tables had turned on social recluses, introverts and similarly non-social people. These people who were once often criticised for not engaging, making excuses for missing social occasions and preferring their own company, are now the most well-equipped to handle these new conditions we’re all living in. I combined this with the idea that even if you’re just down the road from a friend, you may as well be on the moon when it comes to meeting up with them. It seemed like the best visual pairing to marry the two ideas, an introvert gracefully floating through life in a seemingly alien environment. Also, as a filmmaker, it was a fun and achievable challenge that could be made while under lockdown.
