This photograph of the Waverley paddle steamer was taken from my window and captures perfectly a golden moment in the life of this special ship . Like many other people I have treasured the memories of sailing on her down to Rothesay Bay on the Island of Bute. The shot also brings a sadness that she is in the sunset of her long life on the Clyde.
When I captured this special moment in the long lifetime of the Waverley Paddle Steamer I felt it was a gift to me for being part of her long life on the sea and maybe a parting gift too.
I feel I don’t need to say too much about the photograph as it will speak volumes to all who sailed on her. But like many others I don’t want her to disappear just yet… wouldn’t it be amazing if she could sail on and impress a younger generation in years to come and make more wonderful memories.
