This piece was a part of a collection of works called “urban life”. This was a collection which explored how teenagers are perceived by older people going through expression and environment. This piece shows the person moving towards the light depicting him moving on to a better life from a dark past of both mental and social trauma as a result of his environment. This is meant to convey the message of people looking more at the person than stereotyping them like a group of misconstrued boys. I used oil pastel in the face and hair mixed with pencil, then bleach and ink in the background and also combining biro pen. This was used to show form and still give room for viewers to think of they’re own perception which can create contradictory views.
