I have always loved the political cartoons of Martin Rowson in The Guardian though avoided politics in my own paintings: Until recently. As a passionate supporter of the our European Union membership, I have watched the recent Brexit farce on TV with increasing anxiety and disbelief. And with Trump itching for a war, and Climate Emergency indicators suggesting untold havoc, how can you stop your work becoming political ? The clowns in Brexit-tears are from a photo I took of a vintage carnival sideshow at Mindle beach in Darwin. An appropriate metaphor for the Westminster madness.
