It was a gradual but ever-increasing awareness of oceanic plastic pollution especially, which began to seep into my consciousness. Drip, drip, drip…It niggled and nagged and gnawed at me ..until all that seeping began to overflow and it flooded into full consciousness. Now, it can’t be ignored. TV documentaries, social media, online campaigns, paper protests, people protests – everyone SCREAMING on behalf of our oceans and all our precious ocean dwellers.
“We’re drowning in a sea of plastic!! We’re eating plastic!! We’re becoming plastic…!!
That’s when I could no longer ignore the call and that’s precisely when I heard The Universe’s plea to become an Ecobricker. Trap as much plastic as you possibly can into as many bottles as you possibly can for as long as you possibly can and you will know you will have helped. Then teach as many people as you possibly can for as long as you possibly can and then you will know you will have really helped.
But before I put my plastic into my next bottle, I found myself compelled to make this image – surely the only time plastic and a fish can look good together is on canvas?
