The breath was taken from my lungs, when I entered St Peters Basilica. I have been in many churches and cathedrals before, but nothing could compare to what I saw. The vivid colours of the marble, the polished gold, paintings by the masters even the arches and windows bent the light, it was ethereal. Men built this beautiful masterpiece with every corner and detail curated to lift us mere mortals to the devine. I walked through art, I was in the painting and I was in heaven. Heaven was brick and marble and its the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
