Is a working class hero something to be?

Steven Hart, 54

Sick of seeing fake news, lying politicians and throw away reality TV shows, I felt compelled to create a piece of artwork about someone who brings positivity, human connection and integrity to our world – a real everyday Scottish super hero if you will. My portrait of Glaswegian actor Scott Kyle (known for roles in the TV show, ‘Outlander’, and the films ‘The Angels’ Share’ by Ken Loach, and ‘Kilo Two Bravo’) is my attempt to increase the visibility of positive role models in Scotland and further afield, through an artistic depiction of someone who is totally committed to ‘the greater good’. Giving back to his local community through his extensive charity work, and support of young actors across Scotland with his drama workshops, Scott is not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve and go the extra mile for the causes and people that he truly believes in. At a time when much can be overshadowed by the darkness, negativity and lies that social media and the news would have us dwell in, it is extremely important (to me) that we celebrate the people that make a significant positive difference in the lives of many.
