How does it feel to be totally isolated?

May Lambie, 52

I am a complete novice to oil painting. I am severely disabled and live alone and unable to work, therefore, when lockdown commenced you would think I would find it easier than most right? Wrong!! Although I am sort of used to being home most days, I was still able to go out occasionally and of course receive regular visits from my family who are my carers, and my friends who are my rocks. I normally enjoy writing poems and songs, but lockdown enticed me to challenge myself. This is my first ever attempt at painting with pallette knives. The tree depicts my isolation, the birds are there to show that although family and friends were still nearby, they were still out of reach. It may not be perfect, but I love the colours and everything it stands for. I continue to enjoy learning more about the medium of oil painting everyday. Although I am an amateur I felt compelled to enter this competition when it popped up on my newsfeed. I hope you enjoy it for what it is.
