How Does Home Feel?

I created this piece in response to the current lockdown restrictions. It is a personal reflection of home and the space we inhabit. The projected photograph was taken in the kitchen of my family home during a party, it is projected onto my current flat’s kitchen. My work communicates the vast changes of everyday life and living situations over the past year, adapting to restrictions – being away from friends and family, working from home etc. My empty kitchen is intentionally imbued with the memories of those I love and miss. This is important as it questions the space we occupy. How does home now feel that we are stuck inside? Is it still a comfort, or does it feel like a prison?
