Sand Art and Digital VideoRemembering ORP Orzel, 2020
The beach art and video of its production serve as a memorial to the servicemen who gave their lives, not just aboard the Polish Orzel submarine (based in Scotland 1939-1940), but throughout the wars of the past. The impermanence of the artwork reflects the fading of memory and the recording of the artwork shows us one viewpoint of a past event. It is intended to remind the audience of the impermanence of memory and the importance of creating lasting, meaningful memorials that serve as a reminder of our past and what we owe to those who went before us.
