How Do We Look At Memories?

Jade Harrison

Pencil/Fine Liner/Ink On ShellsCollection, 2019

Behind my work, there are themes of memories, the beach and how we look at the present and the past. I wanted to achieve something that is detailed and eye-catching to make the viewer look closer to the artwork. Drawing is therapeutic for me, but also exciting when feeling the pressure. Using pencil and ink keeps me calm as I feel like I am in my own little world of comfort. I want the viewer to feel that the work is personal and I want them to experience the feelings of nostalgia. My focus is on shells and the different variety of things you would find on a beach and put them together into a drawing onto the shells I have collected over time. These are memories of every time I go to the beach, especially when I was a child.
