Does travel inspire creativity?

Kayleigh McGuinness, 28

‘Landscape’ is a piece I created after spending two months living and working in Barcelona, then three months living in a camper van travelling through Australia. The act of travel sparks an inspiration within me, the physical action of moving across land and experiencing new culture brings me excitement and fulfilment. Without regular exploration I find myself static and facing creative blocks which affects my wellbeing. This work represents sand beaches, ocean depths and cracked dessert grounds. It is important for me to make work following a trip as I can always then refer back to it and envisage exactly how I felt while I was on the road. This particular trip was cut short due to Covid-19 so I find this piece especially important.
