Do you take your mortality for granted?

I created this work to act as a stark reminder that we as humans are incredibly fragile. It’s easy to forget that we are only flesh and blood when we live in an affluent society where, for the most part, very little physical harm is likely to come to us. As children, we constantly fall down, trip over, get cuts and bruises and generally hurt ourselves while we play. That acts as a constant reminder that we can be hurt very easily and it’s important to take care. As adults it’s easy to forget that lesson and take for granted our own mortality. I believe that we should be aware and appreciate our health.
