Do you see the signs? During the month of June, I embarked on a photographic exploration of the signs I see in the environment around me in the small village of Peterculter where I live 8 miles West of Aberdeen. The signs are sometimes subtle and sometimes not, but all exist as a direct result of the impact of Covid 19 on the village. I am in the shielded group so my visits outdoor have been limited and are often when the rest of the world is vacant leaving only the remnants of human existence and the noticeable absence of others. I visited the illuminated Covid 19 road sign at the edge of the village several times and thought about what other signs may have appeared in this familiar landscape. Over the month I walked around the village looking for signifiers of humans, of human spirit and the coping mechanisms used during this pandemic. The signs are everywhere, and I find peace in this.
