All our lives have been disrupted by the pandemic challenging us to find more ways to entertain ourselves. For me and many others an interest in plants and gardening has grown, drawing my attention to how our relationship with plants has changed. For many plants are just a part of the world in passing, a common sight, a weed; others bring them into their homes and gardens caring for them and watching them grow; however, for our ancestors these plants were a matter of life or death bringing them food, medicine, clothing, and shelter. We overlook many of these plants forgetting the beauty and potential that our ancestors saw. Within this project created a garment inspired by plant folklore and traditional medicines using natural dyes to colour my fabric celebrating the possibility hidden within everyday plants.
