Do we appreciate the colours of our high street?

I live in a small fishing village on the East coast of Scotland. Despite it’s size I am influenced by the stonework and architecture of the 18th and 19th century buildings and I wonder if in two or three hundred years we will still appreciate the architecture and materials presently used in building today. I wonder if they will have any character or will, as I suspect, be demolished to make way for future tastes.
