My name is Jackie, I’m 55 years old and never wrote anything before but saw the John Byrne Award on facebook and thought I would try this. It made me think about a time when my mum was dying of breast cancer and she said a few times that she was on her own. It really bothered me to the point we stayed with her 24/7 for 14 days in the hospice to make sure she wasn’t on her own. Now 18 years later having thought about this frequently I agree with her, I think it doesn’t matter who is with you, I think we all die alone. This is for you mum.
