Death of An Infant

Robert McCormack

Loaded images of death, trauma and anguish wash over us every day. The voyeur in all of us beckons us to gape at these scenes and all too often we dismiss them by the press of a button. I wanted to force an image through a series of processes and see how they can take on a new form. Using a digital source, transferring to woodcut by hand-printing and then casting can make what was once a loaded image of an infant’s death in Syria into something very removed and abstract.
