In recent times more and more importance has been placed on self reflection and improvement, but it can be difficult to be unbiased even towards ourselves. How do we find the balance between being too harsh and too lenient? Are we really improving ourselves…or are our actions performative? I wanted to see if I could have a conversation with myself, and in turn what that would look like. While doing so I realised how terrifying that is; especially when you’re sharing the results. We all want to be good people but we’re scared to recognise the bad parts of ourselves that we need to work on because we think having bad habits makes us bad people. In truth nobody can be perfect, and releasing ourselves from judgment can only lead to growth.
