Can we ever escape the void?

Heather Russell, 31

This piece is intended to raise awareness of the suffering endured by those living with post-traumatic stress disorder. It symbolises a mental void which holds only the darkest and most painful memories. These unwanted memories and visions are hidden deep within the mind of sufferers; this head piece brings the conversation out into the open and makes others aware of the burden carried by those with the illness. Regardless of the beauty and serenity which may surround the sufferer, there remains a psychological barrier between them and the world out-with their mind.
