As an artist working predominantly with stencils and having focussed on urban landscapes with a strong element of decay and abandonment, the natural landscape presents a range of new challenges, with the materials and process seemingly at odds with nature’s unadulterated beauty. With six layers of stencilling, this piece seeks to interpret the dramatic ruggedness of the Scottish landscape through form and composition.
Perhaps spray paint and other similarly artificial media can’t offer the sense of atmosphere and quality of light of the great painters, but are there other qualities to be found in the detail, application and design of the piece?
