Can art bring a sense of joy?

Teghan MacGinley, 21

Losing a pet is one of the most difficult things we can face. It can compare to the loss of a friend, a companion, even a family member, for those who may never have had the joy of an animal in their life this can be a difficult concept.

I drew this piece for my aunt, whose still coping with the loss of her dog Céire. Even though it had been quite some time since her passing I just felt something was missing, the reaction she had was one I would never have imagined. Her sense of joy was palpable, her words touched my heart, ‘It’s just like having her back again’.

Whenever I see my aunt she reminds me how thankful she is to be able to look at this drawing and feel the presence of her beloved pet.
