Are we meant to be lonely creatures?

Troy Holt, 20

My work stems from a study of a childhood friend who lives in isolation up in the remote Highlands. The focus of the work was to raise questions of loneliness: that, despite our best efforts to establish relationships and connections, we are all creatures apart. But, far from despairing, I found in my study an immense respect for solitary living which I would argue is essential to navigating our increasingly busy and frenetic lives.
