Body image and the idea of ‘perfection’ are things very important to me. Not because I value them highly, but rather the opposite. For me, being myself is more important than the idea of perfection and I did this piece to reflect what the reality of societal perfection/beauty is causing.

Social media is full of so many edited and touched up selfies from people struggling to make themselves look ‘perfect’ to society. They continue to edit and Photoshop, fighting for the approval of strangers. To the extent they are no longer the person who they are — losing their core identity — asking the same question over and over again through their photos: Am I pretty now?
