A portfolio – Why Photograph Butterflies in Scotland?

Jacob Quinn, 20

There is much joy to be had trying to capture a beautiful hovering insect that rarely stays on one flower for too long, yet it is worth the wait, because Butterflies are not like Birds. They can not be seen all year round especially not in Scotland… this is what makes photographing butterflies in Scotland incredibly exciting, challenging and rewarding. Especially seeing new breeds and reoccurring favourites in different areas of Scotland that can then be reported to the butterflies conservation as scientific research into their population.
