This sculpture is a memorial for those we have lost. The feet, when separated from the body, act a reminder of human presence that, once vibrant, is now missing. Though a trace is left, the vital parts - the humanity, spirit and personality are gone, and the cold image is intended to reflect this.
However, this is not intended to be a sad piece, but rather an exploration of valuing the sheer joy of life. Despite all that is happening in the world, we are at least fortunate to still be here and able to enjoy the world around us. This is something that should be valued and not taken for granted, and in remembering those that we have lost, we should make the most of still being here.
This piece is therefore not about tragedy, but to remind people to be kind and thankful, for life is fragile.
