I THINK THE WORST WAY TO GO WOULD BE QUICKLY

Poppy Lironi

I wrote this piece after meeting a friend I hadn't seen in a while and our conversation was cut short when I had to jump on a bus home. I didn't get to tell him how much it meant to me that we'd finally caught up again.

I think this fits into the 'enjoyment of life' because it centres around that feeling of being present in your life - whatever stage of it you may be at. Although the piece is written in a hypothetical situation for me, it helped me acknowledge the importance of enjoying life while you have the time to do so. It also fits into the 'honesty' value as it second guesses itself, and the movie-magic moments you imagine in those scenarios. It encourages you to think beyond the 'several sunlit days' attitude to life, and makes you consider the reality of tricky situations. Finally I think the 'true friendship' value is present because the piece focuses on that bond of friendship you have with the people closest to you - we are made up of and for the people around us.
