This Land is Ours

This Land is Ours

Natasha Ruwona

Using humanity as the main value, I created a response to the title ‘This Land is Our Land’.  It is so easy to be ignorant to what is going on in the world.  I was inspired by reading an article about child refugees in Syria, and how as a child we see our home as the safest place for us, but what happens when that is taken away?

During my childhood, I spent a lot of time at the beach, and I considered this to be a place where I felt at home, free, and ultimately – safe.   As a child, we are not supposed to have the worries that these children have and face, and I feel very lucky to have grown up in the circumstances that I have.

The images look like frames – one is a happy setting, the other is not, and I wonder which people will focus on first.

Although this project only looks at one issue, I hope in creating this, that I have inspired people to think deeper, look at the bigger picture, and do what they can to help others who are not as privileged as them.
